Every cup of espresso I have with this maker comes out perfect, with the crema in it. Save yourself a lot of money when considering an espresso maker, this 50 dollar stove top maker will outperform your several hundred dollar pump machine everytime. The proof is in the cup you will enjoy with this espresso maker. Remember to follow the instructions, which are actually easy to understand. I am sold on Bialetti Brikka makers...you will be too. Dowling (Maine, USA) - See all my reviews       This review is from: Bialetti "Brikka" Stove Top Espresso Maker, 2-cup (3 Oz) I just wanted to alert potential Brikka buyers that there may be several batches of defective Brikkas floating around on the market. So far I've gone through three of them and all three were defective -- very poorly machined, sharp jagged edges, gaskets that don't fit, loose safety valves, flakes of metal floating in the brewed coffee (not good!), etc. Maybe I'll try again at some point in the future once the defective batches have disappeared. Hopefully Bialetti's quality control will improve by then. On the bright side, Amazon makes it very easy to return defective merchandise. Kudos for that. This review is from: Bialetti "Brikka" Stove Top Espresso Maker, 2-cup (3 Oz) I use the same techniques on my Moka pot as I do on my Brikka: between a medium and find grind, preheat the water, preheat the burner, don't tamp, remove from heat as soon as the brew is done and wrap the base with a cold cloth. I pretty much follow the directions on Stumptown Coffee's website for a stovetop pot. Again, just as with the Moka pot, run a few brews through the pot so it's "seasoned." I didn't expect real crema but it's more like a frothy texture. The less time the pot spends on the stove, the less burnt the coffee will taste, which is why I preheat the water and the burner (I have a diffuser on my gas stove). I hope more places start carrying the 2-cup since it's the perfect amount for one person.
